Battery & Electrical

A car that will not start is not always a bad battery. It can be a charging fault that keeps flattening a good one, or a starter that has given up. We test the whole system first, so you replace the part that actually failed.

What the job involves

  1. 1Load test the battery and check the terminals and cables for corrosion.
  2. 2Test the alternator's charging output with the engine running.
  3. 3Check the starter's draw, and look for anything draining the battery with the car switched off.
  4. 4Replace what failed, fit a battery of the right size and rating, and reset anything that needs it after a power loss.

When you need it

If any of these sound like your car, bring it in and we will look at it.

  • The engine cranks slowly or just clicks
  • The battery or charging warning light is on
  • Headlights dim at idle, or the electrics act up
  • You keep needing a jump start

Summer heat is harder on batteries than winter. In Sacramento a battery that is three or four years old is worth testing before a long trip.
